Shirley Kemp Gannon was an artist, an accomplished interior designer, and a noted philanthropist. She was a voracious reader, lifelong learner, and collector. She and her husband, a bank executive, had a large ranch west of Helena, which included the area of the Wassweiler Bathhouse, before she moved to her westside home.

This is an estate sale you won’t want to miss. There is a huge, diverse library with everything from art and animals, fiction, humor, to many rare books. Books include very rare 1886 and ’87 M.T. brand books, a true 1st edition of A River Runs Through It, 1st editions of most A. B. Guthrie books, 1st American editions of Harry Potter series, hundreds of books by Montana’s most popular authors.

From the Gannons’ ranch life, there are saddle bags, chaps, XXX Beaver Stetsons, Tony Lama boots, a cowboy bathtub and a frontier-era chuckwagon cook’s box from Pumpkin Creek Ranch; western art, prints and posters.

The sale features custom-made and antique furniture, high-end pieces from makers like Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams, wing chairs, plus glass top and brass end tables; paintings; a contemporary walnut king sleigh bed. Beautiful furniture one would expect in a well-designed home includes antique marble top dresser with bed, walnut parlor table, beautiful carved drop-front desk, barrister bookcase, nice Haywood Wakefield bookcase, walnut armoire and oak cabinets; four Harvard crest chairs; custom-built, mid-century style day beds and tables.

We have a collection of retro and vintage clothing including Orvis, Patagonia, Vera Maxwell, Roffe, Pendleton; fur coats and even a Harvard letter sweater from the 30s. Dozens of jackets, skirts, scarves, hankies and hats. Costume jewelry includes Hobe and De Mario, plus lots of fun beads and baubles. There are vintage and contemporary linens.

WWII collectibles include many officer insignias and European Theater maps. Original art by Lela Autio and R.E. Pierce. Prints and posters, including some by popular artists Morgan and Zemsky. Huffman prints by Jorud. Stereo system with hundreds of records and CDs. A Kessler birds eye map and an unusual Kessler glass for a “short one” Broadwater Hotel china and hardware; horseshoeing and household tools; 4 flat screen TVs; fancy cast outdoor and other patio furniture; pottery collection; whimsical pig collection; Hudson Bay and other wool blankets, gardening carts and tools.

The sale features a pristine cast coffee grinder, a table full of hand-painted Franciscan “Apple” glass and china, cupboards full of glassware, small appliances and utensils.
